“If I can help somebody, cheer somebody,
with a word or a song, then my living will not be in vain.”

With 2200 members and growing, we currently have over 270 volunteers!
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and become more involved in the Club. Volunteering also helps out the Club, as many aspects are managed by its members.

All the income collected by the individual clubs within the Evergreen family and by the Evergreen Lounge food services and special events are invested back into the Club to pay for expenses and buy new equipment.

To get started, fill out a Volunteer Registration Form and submit to the Filberg Centre front counter, or in person or by email to Deanne McRae (email address below). Thank you!

If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Deanne McRae at 250.338.1000, or email dmcrae@courtenay.ca.

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

July 1st Tea Dance
The Evergreen Club gets asked to host this event each year (at 2pm in the Native Sons Hall). The Georgia Strait Big Band gets looked after by the July 1st committee and the hosting of free refreshments and free cupcakes (supplied) is run by Evergreen Club volunteers. Love music? Love Canada Day? Love a fun community social event? Then we want you! We need a convenor, greeters, servers, and help with clean up.

July 22nd Market Day Pancake Breakfast
We are taking a list of interested volunteers for Friday (prep) and Saturday. Please sign up on the list in the kitchen! It takes upwards of a couple dozen people to put on this ‘Everyone Welcome’ event. It’s a fun way to start your day volunteering and giving back to the Evergreen Club (then go and spend some time downtown checking out the sales and entertainment on 5th Street!)

Sound Board
The Evergreen Club are now proud owners of their very own sound board for club use only. If you are a person that is
interested in training on this new piece of equipment, then we want to hear from you. We are compiling a list of interested people and plan to set up some training sessions soon. Do you know of someone who has sound board experience (they don’t have to be an Evergreen Club member to volunteer)?

Evergreen Club Afternoon Kitchen Shifts and Dishwasher Spares
We appreciate any time and flexibility you can offer! We are always looking to add more kitchen volunteers to have on our spare board. The biggest need right now is for the Dishwasher and the closing Kitchen Host/Hostess shift. We have a quality industrial dishwasher machine. Full training will be provided for the 11:30am-1:30pm shift. The closing PM shift is from 1 pm-3:00pm when the kitchen closes. At 3, the pm shutdown process then begins (typically the shift will end around 3:30pm). Again, training provided and you never work alone! You can fi ll a spare shift as little as once every couple months, we work around you! Note: it’s rare that it is a last minute call in; our spares typically get lots of notice when offered a shift.

Those listed above are just a sample of some of the opportunities we have for volunteering.
