“If I can help somebody, cheer somebody,
with a word or a song, then my living will not be in vain.”

With 2200 members and growing, we currently have over 270 volunteers!
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and become more involved in the Club. Volunteering also helps out the Club, as many aspects are managed by its members.

All the income collected by the individual clubs within the Evergreen family and by the Evergreen Lounge food services and special events are invested back into the Club to pay for expenses and buy new equipment.

To get started, fill out a Volunteer Registration Form and submit to the Filberg Centre front counter, or in person or by email to Cathy Audia (email address below). Thank you!

If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact the Assistant Coordinator, Cathy Audia at 250.338.1000, or email caudia@courtenay.ca.

Kitchen Volunteers
The kitchen volunteers provide a valuable service to the Evergreen Club. They give seniors a place to come and socialize with peers while enjoying an affordable meal. The kitchen volunteers enjoy being part of a team and getting to know new people. As a thank you they enjoy free coffee, tea, breakfast or lunch during each shift. Our schedule works around your availability, and all training is provided. Commitments can be as little as 1 x 2 hour shift a month.

Bingo Caller
Have a smooth talking voice that needs to be heard over a loud speaker? Bingo is looking for a new caller. Callers volunteer every 3rd Friday from 12-3:30. I’d love to hear from you if you are interested in helping out.

Special Event Poster Hangers
Looking for a way to contribute to the club that will also help you fulfill your daily step count? We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to put up our special event posters around town. This position is flexible. Would you like to put 50 posters up? That would be great. Do you want to put 3 posters up? That would be great too. The posters help spread the word of our many special events.

Call out for Event Planners or Members to Join the Special Events Committee
Do you have your own idea of an event you would like to plan? Working with the support of the Assistant Coordinator and Club Coordinator, Conveners have the freedom to dream up ideas and implement them. A Convener should be organized and enjoy working with other volunteers. Ability to trouble shoot and provide leadership to other volunteers are also assets. Conveners can plan one or several events, this position is flexible. We are also looking for individuals that would like to join our Special Events Committee. The Special Events Committee usually meets on the first Wednesday of the month to plan upcoming events. If you enjoy event planning and working with a committee this position may interest you.

Interested in Working with Sound?
Our sound technician is looking for an assistant! If you are looking to learn about sound training includes free on-line courses, mixer for practice, plus hands on instruction that includes experience. This is a great opportunity to learn more about mixing sound. On the other hand, if you prefer to help with set up, that would appreciated too. The amount of commitment is flexible based on your availability and interest. Contact Cathy for more information.
