“If I can help somebody, cheer somebody,
with a word or a song, then my living will not be in vain.”

With 2200 members and growing, we currently have over 270 volunteers!
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and become more involved in the Club. Volunteering also helps out the Club, as many aspects are managed by its members.

All the income collected by the individual clubs within the Evergreen family and by the Evergreen Lounge food services and special events are invested back into the Club to pay for expenses and buy new equipment.

To get started, fill out a Volunteer Registration Form and submit to the Filberg Centre front counter, or in person or by email to Deanne McRae (email address below). Thank you!

If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Deanne McRae at 250.338.1000, or email dmcrae@courtenay.ca.

Robbie Burns Event Kitchen Support
Volunteers are needed for food prep, serving and clean up for lunch for this fun-filled Scottish event on Thursday January 25th in the Conference Hall.

Trash & Treasures Concession
A small concession stand of food services will be open during our Trash & Treasures Sale in the upper Conference Hall. It takes place Sunday January 28th with the stand serving drinks and light refreshments off the side of the kitchen vestibule. The stand will have different times of shifts needed to cover the concession opening and closing time of around 8:30-2:30. If you love a good multi-vendor market, why not have fun volunteering and then scope out the sale!

Kitchen Spares
We appreciate any time and flexibility you can offer! We are always looking to add more kitchen volunteers to our spare board. Various times include opening 8am-10am, AM host 10am-1pm, Dishwasher 11:30am-1:30pm, and the closing PM
shift of 1pm-3:00pm when the kitchen will close and then the shutdown process begins. We like to match the shift to your needs and preferences. Training provided.

Decorating Sidekick
Our volunteer lounge decorator keeps things looking so festive and seasonal throughout the year and would love a few extra helping hands with decorating. Let us know if you can help her. Do you have the ability to pass things up? Stand back and say, “more to the left…” then you are the right person for this! Decorating tends to happen after 4pm on weekdays.

Kitchen Caller
We are looking for someone who will be able to receive voice mail and reply in a timely manner. Periodically, a volunteer can’t make their kitchen shift and you would be required to call someone in to cover it from the spare sheet. If you are comfortable on the phone then this is for you! Each month five kitchen phoners fill the spares for one calendar week. It’s always a plus if you are email-friendly but not mandatory.

Those listed above are just a sample of some of the opportunities we have for volunteering.
