October 2019 – President’s Message

A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president

Well it’s “GOODBYE SUMMER” and “HELLO FALL”………summer has officially left us but it was a pretty good run…..good weather and many great functions and activities had us valley folk well occupied and busy. I got a good bit of joy out of our summer past and I hope you all did as well. The Evergreen Kitchen and lounge are back to the “normal busy” with our members sharing their summer memories. Our kitchen is an integral part of the club and a very important source of revenue for us. That revenue in turn helps with the many programs and activities here at the Evergreen so your support of the kitchen is very important. I’ll take a moment here to acknowledge the leadership and volunteers in our kitchen as both are extremely vital in it’s operation…..always looking for new volunteers by the way!!

Now a word or two about our upcoming Members’ Meeting. Date and time are Wednesday November 13 at 10am. We hope to have an interesting guest speaker as part of the program and that person will be introduced in the November newsletter. We are still seeking a couple of people to be Directors with our Executive Team and if you have an interest please contact me by mail at… or you can call me by phone if you wish at 250-339-4389. Positions are open to all registered members and if the required number of volunteers step forward there will be no need for elections. If more than the required number show an interest then there might be need for elections. All positions are open for challenge……but please let me know. There will be NO nominations from the floor. There will also be some door prizes that day and reports from Janet and myself. There will also be time for input from the floor. A volunteer application to serve on the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE is available from Janet or Cathy.

Don’t forget our FALL GARAGE SALE. It is happening on Saturday October 5th from 9am ’till noon in the Rotary Hall. There is still a few days left for you all to drop off your donations of all the things you don’t need and wish to donate to the sale…..drop off is the Filberg lower lobby in the mornings up until THURSDAY OCTOBER 3rd…….

It’s time to sign off. It has been a pleasure to serve as your President from 2011 until now and I plan to let my name stand once again…..THANK YOU for your support…….and remember…..”HAPPINESS COMES THROUGH DOORS YOU DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU LEFT OPEN”…….Adios!!!…gk
