May 2017 – President’s Message

A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president

Hello again everyone!!….Anyone seen the sun lately? I’ve been on the lookout for some time now but haven’t had much
luck either. Mediocre is the very best I can off er to describe our Spring weather so far and after a less than mediocre winter this is really getting a bit hard to take. But hang in there folks because summer has just got to get better…..I hope!!! Anyway, it’s onto Evergreen things and all the great activity clubs we have.

The Pancake Breakfast was a great success and that was due in no small part to the twenty something volunteers who made it happen. Great food and super service is a great combination and we had both. Many thanks to those dedicated volunteers that made it all happen.

I would like to report that our new sound system has been paid for and is due anytime soon. Many of our clubs contributed to this project and it will be exciting to see the result of all their efforts. It’s just another great example of our members efforts to continually improve and upgrade the Evergreen Club. Thanks to all for your contribution towards this project.

I would like to take a moment to mention a couple of great musical events that will be coming your way during the month of May. The first is the Mother’s Day Concert on Sunday May 14th. The Comox Valley Concert Band will be in house
to present “Let Me Entertain You” with hits from the past 100 years from stage, screen, TV and radio. On Sunday May 28th there will be a show called “Jukebox Saturday Night on a Sunday aftnernoon”. It will be a wonderful musical extravaganza with many of the great tunes from the 40’s through the 60’s. It’s a Sonshine Club fundraiser presented by our very own Ken McLeod. Tickets for these events are available at the office.

While I’m at it, I’d like to mention that there is a full slate of Friday Night Dances in both May and June. And a special May event for the LADIES is a “Ladies Texas Hold ‘Em event on Friday May 19th from 1pm ’till 3pm in the Rotary Hall.

It’s time to call it a wrap….just a thought however…..Have you ever noticed that a dog gets mad if you blow on his face but if you take them for a car ride they want to stick their head out the window……adios for now….gk
